You take it to the heart...

...the waiting is the hardest part!
Four weeks ago my mission papers were "submitted", and still no call. This is very frustrating. To top it off, Target has slashed my hours so I get to spend the majority of my time at home with nothing to do. Help?

Thanks a lot Kim. Ok, 25 things about me.

  1. I play Pokemon games on my computer for fun. Except I speed the game up 300% because I hate that the little fella walks so slow.
  2. I love working with stained glass. It puts me at ease as well as turn out a beautiful piece of art.
  3. My main goal in life is to help make other people happy. Specifically women. It's the little things.
  4. Fixing things is one of my favorite pastimes. My bike, computers, household electronics you name it.
  5. You know how people name their cars? I named my iPod. Her name is Sadie, thanks to some naming help from chacha.
  6. My blog doesn't have any followers, and that makes me feel lame. Curse you internet.
  7. I was a professional web designer at the ripe old age of 15. It's lame, but hey, money is money.
  8. Until John and I are back from our missions, my best friend is mostly likely going to continue to be my cat. Because she's cooler than most humans.
  9. I think DRM should be illegal. If I buy a DVD, I think I should have every right to put it on my computer... at full quality, for no additional cost. For this reason I the the MPAA should face an anti-trust suit, because what they are doing really should be illegal.
  10. I was the captain on my junior high academic games team, and I was good. lol.
  11. My idea of a good time usually involves going to the movies. I love movies!
  12. I have no doubt that internet explorer is the worst piece of software ever written and that it should not be used under any circumstances. Firefox people! (Safari's good too, Chrome is just one giant commercial)
  13. I don't like the news, because I think it's hurting the economy. If they would stop telling us the economy is in the toilet, people might be willing to go out and spend.
  14. I like Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow, but not the other books by Mr. Card.
  15. I wouldn't hesitate to go sky diving if I could afford it.
  16. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people don't respond to my text messages.
  17. I'd much rather watch a chick flick than an action movie.
  18. Fact: I'm marrying Jenna Fischer (Pam, from the Office). That's just the way it is.
  19. For some reason I keep wanting to put "I can swim really fast," but that's just not the case.
  20. I'm very proud of my iTunes library... nearly 5000 songs.
  21. Whenever I go to Wendy's I always order two Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers and a Frosty Float. Sometimes other things as well.
  22. I'm not looking forward to Conan getting the Tonight Show. I think they should have gotten Jimmy Kimmel, because he's actually funny, not just stupid.
  23. My favorite TV show of late is How I Met Your Mother (The Big Bang Theory being a close second). Yay for CBS Monday night line up!
  24. I'd love to work for either Apple or Blizzard when I grow up.
  25. I just love to waltz!

BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II... U.S.RANKED 4th

I didn't write this, and I'm afraid I can't tell you who did, but still definately worth reading:

"BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II... U.S.RANKED 4th

After determining the Big 12 championship game participants, the BCS computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS declared Germany to be the winner of World War II

"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into conference play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and Russia; however, considering their entire body of work --including an incredibly tough Strength of Schedule -- our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."

Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States, the BCS Commissioner stated: "The US only had two major victories --Japan and Germany. The computer models, unlike humans, aren't influenced by head-to-head contests, they consider each contest to be only a single, equally-weighted event..."

German Chancellor Adolph Hitler said: "Yes, we lost to the US; but we defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks..." Herr Hitler has been criticized for seeking dramatic victories to earn "Style points" to enhance Germany's rankings. Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland was in doubt until the final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly challenging and demanded the application of additional forces..."

The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented "France had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1 ranking, they only fell to #2..."

Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the Philippines...

Old friends, new friends; red friends, blue friends

It's always an interesting experience to talk to an old friend for the first time in years. Of course, there's always the fond memories and catching up to do on how things have changed. But it also makes you think of how things haven't changed... and how much you wish some things had. It's interesting; after long periods of time other people's lives always seem to have changed drastically, but we always feel like our lives haven't changed a bit, other than the number of years since we were born. I wonder, is it just me, from my perspective? Do other people see my life and think, "man, he's really gotten it together in the last couple years!" Or maybe "poor guy, his life has gone to hell!" I hope they think the former. Perhaps I haven't changed - I like to think I have. Just something to think about.

Why I go to dances and stand

So… I went to the institute dance tonight. It was pretty fun. I like going to dances… some good music, babewatching, and of course the Travolta (A great line dance that’s hugely popular in my Hunter circle of friends). People always tell me I should go find someone to dance with… here’s why I don’t:

1. It’s awkward. Because 99.9% of the women I’d dance with… won’t be my wife one day. Why take that time? Plus once you ask them it’s awkward figuring out whose hands go where… haha.

2. They don’t wanna waste their time on me either. I’m going on a mission in a few months. Women all seem to want someone who will put a ring on their finger… Man I’m jaded. But it’s true! I’ve tried dating, and they all tell me the same thing… “You need to focus on your mission… I’m looking for someone to spend my life with” BLAH BLAH BLAH. Honestly, I’d rather have a “you’re lame. I don’t want to be seen with you in public”… because after you hear the former a dozen times it gets old.

3. I actually used to never sit out a dance… and look where it got me. Sure, I had fun at those dances, but I have fun without dancing too. And this way I don’t get all sweaty from the stupid Boot Scootin’ B00gie. Gah. Anyway, I’ve come to realize the girls I used to dance with… for the most part were really shallow. It makes me mad, actually.

4. Married people are fun, and there’s no pressure. True story. Who cares if they “like” you, they’re going home with someone else, and you don’t have to worry about what they think so long as everybody has a good time. And, they don’t leave you to go dance with whoever… somebody asks them to dance, and they can just flash their ring. Yay, cop-outs.

5. Competition. I actually think I’m a pretty good dancer… when I want to be. But I don’t really like swing dancing; probably because I was never very good at it. But the dances I enjoy… tango, waltz, cha cha, polka, line… I can go to town. But when girls ask me to swing it feels like a competition and I’m coming in last. I can’t do lifts, and I actually hate trying to. I don’t mind the Charleston type stuff, but I’m not very good at it, so by default the girls pass me over… That actually might not be true, because I’ve refused to swing for a long time now… haha.

6. Studio 600. I fear this place. I don’t know why.

So… that’s it. Don’t judge me too harshly. It’s just a defense mechanism to save myself from pain. Cheers kids.
